
Thomas J. Capano was a
prominent and politically connected Wilmington, Delaware, lawyer. He had been a
former state prosecutor, public defender, and city solicitor. He once served as
legal counsel to former Delaware Governor Michael N. Castle. He had served as an
aide to Governor Thomas Carper.The
woman he murdered, Anne Marie Fahey, had also been in the service of Governor Carper as a
scheduling secretary. Fahey had been one of his mistresses. Was first arrested
by FBI Agents in November of 1997. Federal charges were dismissed in favor of
instituting a first-degree murder charge in the state of Delaware. Capano's state
trial began November of 1998 and ended with a guilty verdict January 17th, 1999.
