SIX PICK
DICHOTOMY
(Thursday, February 18th - 25th, 1999)
You probably
don't know Susan Schary, but you've probably seen her art. Schary, a
graduate of Temple's Tyler School of Art, has supplied networks
such as ABC and CNN with her courtroom
renderings of infamous local celebrities such as Thomas Capano,Gary Heidnick and Ramona Africa.
But in a career spanning over 40 years, she's also become world-famous for her portraits
ofless, ahem, arresting figures, which grace the walls of private collectors as well as
universities.
Along
with these portraits, courtroom art from various trials Schary has covered will be on
display in an exhibit called Dichotomy. If you catch her at the opening reception on
Sunday, maybe you can ask her what Mumia
Abu-Jamal is really like.
